Where I live: I have lived in the Hall High neighborhood for more than 20 years with husband Martin, our Shih Tzu Penny, and two cats - Murry (named for Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, a long story) and Bad Omen (even longer story). Our two children, Claire and Sam, also grew up in this house. Now, though, we are newly empty-nested.
Occupation: I am principal (along with Martin) of Thoma Thoma, a marketing firm specializing in brand development and inbound marketing.
My favorite space: My screened porch.
Why: Our fabulous oversized porch was actually the reason we chose this house. There is plenty of space for a large gathering of friends and family - and we entertain often. We’re up high over a sloping backyard so you feel a bit as if you’re in a tree house - private and secluded from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding city. A propane patio heater allows us to use the space almost year-round.
If I could change one thing to improve this space, I would: Wire it for outdoor stereo and replace the standing heater for a ceiling-mounted one to open space. That would make it perfect.
