— HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL Northside hires coach from Georgia

Mike Falleur, a longtime coach in Georgia, was named Fort Smith Northside’s new coach Friday morning.

Falleur, a 1980 Northside graduate, replaces Darrell Henry, who resigned Nov. 5 after leading the Class 7A Grizzlies to a 57-64-1 record in 11 seasons.

Falleur was 10-10 the past two seasons at Villa Rica (Ga.) High School, about 35 miles west of downtown Atlanta. Falleur spent the previous nine seasons as coach at Tunnel Hill (Ga.) Northwest Whitfield High School.

According to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association website, Falleur has a career record of 152-80.

Before coaching Northwest Whitfield, Falleur was 39-9 from 1992-1995 at Tucker, 26-10 from 1996-1998 at Burke County and 19-13 from 1999-2001 at Elbert County.

Tucker finished 13-1 and advanced to the semifinals of the playoffs in 1994.

Falleur played football at Henderson State before graduating from Arkansas.
