LITTLE ROCK — As crews work to restore electricity to thousands of homes in central Arkansas, a number of people are heading to grocery stores to replace food they’ve had to throw out after losing power for several days.
Entergy Arkansas President and CEO Hugh McDonald said there’s no way to offer assistance to people who had to throw out their holiday leftovers and other food because of power outages.
McDonald said the utility doesn’t insure food and that customers can turn to insurance if they have it.
Entergy Arkansas is the state’s largest electric utility. About 25,000 of its customers were without power Sunday afternoon. That’s down from 194,000 Entergy Arkansas customers who were without electricity after a snowstorm pushed its way into the state on Christmas
