LITTLE ROCK — Dr. Mike Pinter, professor of mathematics and director of the Teaching Center at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., was named 2012 Tennessee Professor of the Year. Pinter is a Morrilton native and received his bachelor of mathematics degree from Hendrix College in Conway.
Tyler Mosby, a senior at Alma High School, has been awarded a Dean’s Scholarship to attend the University of the Ozarks at Clarksville. Mosby is the son of Jacky and Melissa Mosby of Van Buren. He plans to major in psychology.
Cynthia DeRose has received the University of Phoenix AMVETS Scholarship. She is an Army veteran and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Hannah Miller-McWilliams has been named Outstanding Alumnus at Ozarka College in Melbourne. She is the finance manager for Freedom Ford in Melbourne.
LeAnn Alexander, an education vision specialist with the North Little Rock School District, received the 2012 Extra Mile Award from the American Printing House for the Blind. Alexander was recognized for her contribution to the Building on Patterns primary literacy program, developed to teach beginning Braille users reading, writing and spelling.
Meaghan Horton, a Little Rock native, was honored with the Review of Optometry Award at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Horton, the daughter of May and John Dellar, also of Little Rock, is a graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock and the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
