The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission announced a series events for January to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Arkansas Post.

The events, including lectures and exhibits, will take place throughout January and across the state.

A four-day event at the Arkansas Post Museum State Park and Arkansas Post National Memorial on Jan. 18-21 in Gillett will include re-enactments and lectures.

The Old State House Museum in Little Rock will host a series of "Brown Bag Lunch Lectures," including talks on Jan. 9 and Jan. 17. The museum's collection of battle flags, which has been on display since May in an exhibit titled "Battle Colors of Arkansas," will remain on display through January.
