— President Barack Obama says the U.S. economy is growing stronger and the economic recovery is speeding up.

Obama says a new jobs report out Friday is more good news about the economy. But he cautioned the public that the unemployment rate may still go up and down in the coming months.

Obama also said there are still too many Americans looking for work.

Friday's report showed that the economy added 243,000 jobs last month, the strongest growth in nine months. The unemployment rate ticked down to 8.3 percent.

Obama spoke while visiting Fire Station No. 5 in Arlington, Va. . He wants Congress to approve more grant money for programs that allow communities to hire more police officers and firefighters.

The Arlington County Fire Department says Station No. 5 is the first in the region to feature individual accommodations to better serve the increasing number of female firefighters. It’s also a “green building,” with many energy-saving features.

In the afternoon, Obama will attend a campaign event in Washington.

Now, if we can just get Republicans to support measure that reward employers for hiring Americans and punish employers who continue to send jobs overseas..!!!

Hey aimee, Please tell us how there's 2.5 million less jobs in January and the unemployment rate goes down?

It is not a matter of how many jobs there are but how many people are looking for them... If there are less people, then the unemployment number goes down... Temp jobs just don't attract many workers...
