5 killed, 3 injured in Yell County crash

Arkansas State Police say five people were killed and three children were injured in a head-on collision in Yell County.
State police say the crash happened at about 4 p.m. Sunday on Arkansas Highway 7 near Centerville.
Authorities say a 1992 Camaro driven by 28-year-old Joey Nichols crossed the center line and struck a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by 56-year-old Clara Meriweather.
Meriweather was pronounced dead at the scene, along with 24-year-old Jessica Nichols and 13-year-old Jesse Meriweather. Joey Nichols later died at a hospital, as did 12-year-old Robert Meriweather, who was a passenger in Meriweather’s car.
Three other children who were riding in Meriweather’s car were hurt. Arkansas Children’s Hospital said Monday morning the children were all in good condition.

My heart goes out to these families. I can't imagine the pain of losing so many people you care about at one time. May you all find peace.

Wow tragic accident. I wish this paper would investigate whether any of these folks had their seatbelts on and whether anyone who was wearing a seatbelt survived. Six occupants in a Oldsmobile sounds like quite a load. Is this legal?

The papers can only put in the story what is released by the police and all the info usually isn't released immediately. My condolences to both families...

According to the ASP website - 1 was wearing a seatbelt in which he was killed as well. Instead of criticizing the situation you should pray for the families -- 1 family lost 2 people the other lost 3 -- Put yourself in their situation -- Just Pray !
