Copper wire stolen from cell phone tower

Copper wire has been stolen from a cell phone tower.

An employee of Verizon Wireless reported the theft of the wire from the tower at 14819 Ingram Road on Friday, according to the Pulaski County sheriff's office.

The stolen wire was worth approximately $1,000 and will cost $1,500 to replace, the employee said. He also said wire was stolen from AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile and estimated that the wire stolen from the other companies was worth $2,500. The other companies had not confirmed if their wires were stolen at the time of the report, the sheriff's office said.

The gate was unlocked when he arrived, the employee said.

Authorities found a pair of bolt cutters at the tower and were unable to collect fingerprints because of the rain.
