I-430 wreck at river bridge cleared

— Traffic was significantly backed up on northbound Interstate 430 after a wreck at the river bridge during the morning rush hour commute, but police say the accident has been cleared.

It happened about 7 a.m. on the southern end of the bridge. A car in the left lane lost control amid a steady rain, spinning around and ending up facing the wrong direction. It appeared to have struck the divider wall between the two directions of traffic.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or other vehicles involved in the accident.

Central Arkansas began seeing showers this morning, leading to rain-slicked roads, although it was not confirmed whether that played a factor in the accident.

Traffic on Interstates 40, 430 and 630 was moving slowly as the rain continued to fall.
