With names such as Thunder Monkeys and the Blazerbots, 32 teams of students from a three-state area will descend on the Clinton Library for some robot competition action.

The championship of Arkansas FIRST LEGO League will take place Feb. 25.

Teams from Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee spent six months building, testing and programming an autonomous robot using LEGOS to solve a set of food-safety missions.

The "Food Factor Challenge" had teams explore the topic of food safety and examine the possible points of contamination our food encounters and find ways to prevent or combat these contaminates.

“Every FIRST LEGO League challenge helps students discover how imagination and creativity, combined with science and technology, can solve real-world problems,” said Dean Kamen, founder of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).

The students are in elementary and middle school.

Arkansas FIRST LEGO League Tournament is put on by the Science and Technology Group Inc.

The competition begins at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 25.
