Harding athletes receive All-Academic status

— Four members of the Harding women’s cross country team were among 354 NCAA Division II female student-athletes who earned 2011 All-Academic status from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Harding’s honorees include Dallis Bailey, Gladys Kimtai, Rachel Roberts and Ewa Zaborowska.

To qualify for the association’s All-Academic Cross Country Team in Division II, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 through the most-recent semester, completed at least 12 credit hours in the semester of cross-country competition and placed in the top 50 percent at the most recent NCAA National Championships or inthe top 30 percent at the NCAA Regional Championships.

Bailey is a freshman family and consumer sciences major from Conway, Mo. She has a 3.76 GPA and placed 76th at the South Central Region meet.

Kimtai, a senior from Iten, Kenya, has a 3.41 GPA as a biology major. She was Harding’s second-highest finisher at the regional meet, placing 13th.

A sophomore kinesiology major from Guthrie, Okla., Roberts placed 78th at the regional meet and has a 3.78 GPA.

Zaborowska, a freshman from Poland, was Harding’s highest finisher at the South Central Region meet, placing eighth. She is a finance major with a 4.00 GPA.

Two members of the Harding men’s cross-country team also earned All-academic status.

Harding’s Philip Biwott and Andrew Evans were among 208 NCAA Division II male student-athletes who earned the honor from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Biwott is a senior management major with a 3.42 GPA. The Eldoret, Kenya, native was Harding’s top finisher at the NCAA Division II South Central Region meet, placing 14th.

A native of Rogers, Evans placed 42nd at the regional meet. Evans is a junior mechanical engineering major with a 3.44 GPA.
