Arkansas pastor accused of sex with minor

By The Associated Press

This article was published February 20, 2012 at 3:02 p.m.

— Authorities in Cross County say a pastor is being held on a charge of having sex with a minor, and the girl’s family members say she is pregnant.

Cross County sheriff’s deputies said 39-year-old James Edward Davis has a court appearance set for March 8. He is accused of sexually assaulting the girl four times since 2010.

The sheriff’s office on Monday wouldn’t release bond information regarding Davis and couldn’t say whether he has an attorney.

Jonesboro television station KAIT reported Davis is pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church south of Wynne near Cotton Plant.

Investigators say Davis is the former boyfriend of the girl’s mother, who is currently in jail.

Hey, jack:
If guilty, this guy should be thrown in jail for a very long time. However, there are very real threats to all Americans' First Amendment rights of freedom of religion right now. And every American should be aware of it.

Really, bassrox? The government telling you that you can't personally practice your religion? Or are you referring to the government saying that you don't get to impose the tenets of your religion even on those who are not members of your faith?

And a Baptist too.... what perfect timing for the War on Religion.
If there is any "War of Religion" going on, it is the never ending war on common sense that Religionists have been waging for centuries.
Clowns and perverts flock to the Banner of God where they can hide behind "religious freedom"... what is you guys think is going on anyway?
Are you afraid that some of your zombies are waking up and realizing that all this falderal about super beings and the make believe war on religion is nothing more than a bunch of phobic old guys who are afraid of women?
You guys are funny!

This is just unbelievable. That man is sick. A minor is a child... And to do such an act to any child is unacceptable. If he's found guilty, I think they should give him the harsher punishment. And this girl is pregnant? If it's by him, I just can't imagine... Having a baby at such a young age will prevent this young girl from enjoying many things life has to offer. I am not saying having children ruins your life; I have two children of my own. I'm just saying that she will not be able to do certain things other kids her age are able to do. I hope the family the best of luck.

Fools! Every culture has it's stories, just like the western Bible. The human mind relies on pattern recognition and where none exists, one must be found and applied. That the universe was created is the only matter which is not in dispute. Applying human traits to "God" is folly. If there is a heaven, why not say your prayers and kill yourselves to arrive sooner? Where is your faith? And where is the usual child molester arrest mugshot, or are preacher types protected because they are so "Godly?"

Hey jackalope - Did you really, seriously, just use the tragic sexual abuse of an innocent child to make a political point? Really???? You are no better than the scumbag that raped the child. Liberals like jackalope and NickieD continue to prove their compassion and empathy for children (sarcasm, for those who can't tell).......

Yes, it's true... I have no compassion for the little girl raped and impregnated by a Man of God... (do you get the sarcasm Packman?) Oh, oh maybe he was working under orders from the Big Cheese and the head Zombie is returning.
And in a state that brags there have been no state funded abortions for years.
This is one of those cases that Brown Foam is famous for passing judgement and gas on. This child MUST bear this baby after 9 months of suffering the indignance of having been impregnated... "It's a wonder life" that is in store for both of them. (sarcasm again)
T6; I suspect I have little to fear from your Magic Gaseous Giant in the Sky...

Hey, I'm not the one telling said child that she can't have an abortion without parental consent (which she can't obtain because her mother is in prison) or the one who's telling the child that Planned Parenthood shouldn't be allowed to supply her with free birth control. Which is a moot point because the only Planned Parenthoods in Arkansas are in Little Rock and Fayetteville, which this child had no way of reaching. I'm hoping that the child receives all the support she needs to overcome this trauma of rape and near-incest (since the "pastor" was her mother's boyfriend). I wish that she didn't also have to undergo the trauma of giving birth and caring for a child that she did not consent to conceive.
