— An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday after investigators searching for a missing Van Buren teenager found a body stuffed inside a barrel.

Sebastian County Sheriff Bill Hollenbeck says the human remains are female and the clothing is consistent with what 16-year-old Angela Allen was wearing when she disappeared Feb. 10. Investigators are still awaiting identification of the body.

Police have arrested a 36-year-old Lavaca man on suspicion of aggravated assault in connection with Allen’s disappearance.

The Times Record reports that investigators believe the man and Allen met on a social media website and developed a relationship via text messaging. Police say the man is a registered sex offender.

The sheriff says any additional charges against the man depend on the autopsy results.
