RUSSELLVILLE The family of an Arkansas soldier is awaiting autopsy results after he was found dead in his bunk in Afghanistan.
Relatives of Army Sgt. Jerry Reed say they were notified of Reed’s death Thursday night. His sister, Katherine Reed, says military police told them that Reed was found unresponsive in his bunk.
Reed, who was 30, was in Paktika province in Afghanistan when he died.
Katherine Reed tells the Russellville Courier that her brother’s body was transferred to a military base in Dover, Del., for an autopsy and investigation. She says her brother joined the Army in 2000 after graduating from Russellville High School.
He served in Iraq, Germany and Korea before being stationed in Afghanistan. She says her brother loved the military and considered it his career.
