Severe storms possible Tuesday afternoon, night

— Severe storms are possible Tuesday afternoon and night as a system makes its way across Arkansas, forecasters said.

John Robinson, warning coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service in North Little Rock, said showers are likely all day Tuesday, though severe weather isn't expected before late in the afternoon.

Storms capable of producing damaging wind and isolated tornadoes may develop then and continue through the night as the system moves eastward from the state's western edge.

The northwestern part of the state appears the most likely area to get severe weather, Robinson said.
