Person of interest released in police dispatcher’s death

— A Garland County man who police have called a person of interest in the December slaying of a Hot Springs Village police dispatcher was released Tuesday from a Hot Spring County jail, where he had been held on a probation violation, police said.

Kevin Duck was released on a $15,000 bond, Lt. James Martin of the Garland County sheriff’s office said.

Duck was arrested in Lake Charles, La., on Feb. 1, after a Calcasieu Parish deputy checked Duck’s driver’s license during a traffic stop.

Martin said he didn’t know the specifics of the probation violation that led to Duck’s arrest.

Martin called Duck a person of interest in the slaying of Dawna Natzke, 46.

Natzke was last seen leaving a Christmas party Dec. 21. Duck told police that Natzke, whom he was dating, had stayed up to watch television when he went to bed. When he awoke in the morning, he told police, Natzke and her car were gone.

Authorities found Natzke’s burned car Dec. 22 in the Ouachita National Forest. Her body was found Dec. 31 submerged in a pond about four miles from her car.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.
