Bryant blows past Little Rock Catholic

— Bryant used a hot start from three-point range to take care of Little Rock Catholic 50-23 at home on Friday night.

A 4-for-4 shooting start from three-point range was all that Bryant needed to kick-start a 50-23 rout of Little Rock Catholic.

"We're at home, so we're shooting it well," Bryant coach Mike Abrahamson said. "We should. We practice here everyday and we shoot here everyday. That got us off to a great start."

The Hornets (9-4, 1-0 7A/6A Central Conference) got their points early from a perimeter barrage thanks to Jordan Griffin and his teammates combining to open the game 4-for-4 from three against the Rockets (1-6, 0-1) 3-2 zone and an early 14-5 lead.

From there, Catholic wasn't much competition. They never got any closer than the early deficit and failed to record a field goal in the final 7:46 of the second quarter. Bryant outscored the Rockets 37-11 in the final quarter-and-a-half of play.

Defensively, the Hornets were efficient with their man-to-man full-court press. Though forcing Catholic into only eight turnovers, they were able to tire them, allowing Bryant to take advantage of their faster pace.

"The press kind of bothered some of our kids for some reason," Catholic coach Tom Ezzi said.

Griffin finished with 12 points and Anthony Black contributed 9.
