A longtime Arkansas Children's Hospital nurse from Cabot won $1 million on a scratchoff ticket she redeemed Thursday, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery said in a statement.
Ruth Simcox, who has worked at the hospital for more than 30 years, collected the winnings with her brother at the Little Rock Claim Center after verifying the ticket was a winner at a local retailer. She purchased the $20 Diamond Dazzler ticket at the Exxon Travel Plaza in Cabot.
Simcox is officially the 12th Arkansas Lottery player to win at least $1 million since the first ticket was sold in 2009. Taxes, however, bring her take-home winnings down to $680,000.
