Quenton “Boo” Jones, 29, of 12 Fairbrook Drive pleaded innocent to first-degree murder, as well as criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, before Judge Alice Lightle on Monday, less than 12 hours after police arrested him in his Little Rock home late Sunday night.

According to an arrest affidavit, witnesses identified Jones as the second of two gunmen who followed two people into a 1502 Green Mountain Drive apartment and opened fire on a resident of the apartment, Edwina Martin, and her boyfriend, Daniel Hill.

Martin, 25, was shot several times in the upper torso and once in the hip, according to Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Terry Hastings. Martin was released recently from a local hospital after being treated, Hastings said.

Hill, 22, of 9507 Jacques Road, was shot at least once in the head, according to the affidavit.

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the 7:10 p.m. shooting.

According to the affidavit, Jones was not the gunman who fired the shot that killed Hill, but detectives said he was the one who shot Martin in the hip.

Hill and Martin were followed by two gunmen when they walked into Martin’s apartment, and Martin was shot, the affidavit said.

Hill then attacked the gunman who shot Martin, and the two struggled over the gun, the affidavit said. A second gunman then entered the apartment and shot Martin again, the affidavit said.

The first gunman then shot Hill in the head, and the two gunmen fled the area in an unknown direction, the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, a “confidential party” identified the second gunman as “Boo” and told detectives where “Boo” lived.

Hastings said detectives anticipate another arrest in the near future, but did not release any further suspect information.

The shooting, which was the city’s first homicide of the year, was a “domestic deal,” according to Hastings.

“There was some type of relationship [between the victims and gunmen], but I have no clue what it is ... I don’t know the motive,” Hastings said. “It’s not a random act from what I understand.”

The initial police report stated that one of the gunmen was possibly an ex-boyfriend of Martin’s, but Hastings later said that the information was unsubstantiated.

Jones was being held at Pulaski County jail Monday.

Hill’s homicide was the first of two that occurred that night.

Darius Bee, 32, was pronounced dead at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock after police found him at 8:45 p.m. lying outside a John Barrow Road business with a gunshot wound.

The two shootings were not connected, Hastings said
