FAYETTEVILLE The Arkansas men's track & field team is ranked No. 1 this week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
It is the first No. 1 ranking for the Razorbacks since 2009. Arkansas will host the Razorback Invitational this Friday and Saturday at the Tyson Indoor Track Center.
Arkansas is the winningest program in the history of men's track & field and cross country. The Razorbacks have won 42 national championships and 90 conference titles, though two national titles were later vacated as part of NCAA sanctions.
Men's track and field is the second sport on the UA campus to hit No. 1 this week, joining the Razorbacks' gymnastics program, which is tied for the top spot with UCLA.
In all, five of Arkansas' programs are ranked in the top 5 in their respective sport. The football team was ranked No. 5 in both major polls following the end of the season two weeks ago, the baseball program is ranked No. 4 in the preseason Baseball America poll and the women's track & field team is ranked No. 3 in the USTFCCA rankings.
