COMMUNITY EVENTS IN THE RIVER VALLEY AND OZARK AREA

— TUESDAY Film Showing CONWAY - The Liber ty Roundtable of Faulkner County will show The American Dream: Fighting the Lying Liars One Stupid Lie at a Time, a 30-minute animated film, at 7 p.m. in The McGee Center, 3800 College Ave. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.

Golden Boy Rifle Drawing HEBER SPRINGS - A drawing for a 22.-caliber Golden Boy Rifle will be held Tuesday.

Tickets are $1 for one chance, $5 for six chances and $20 for 30 chances. All proceeds will go to the family of Toby Simpson Leonard, a 14-year-old who recently died in a car accident.

THURSDAY La Leche League CONWAY - The La Leche League of Conway’s evening meeting will be held at 6:30 at La Lucha Space, 2035 Prince St. Women interested in breastfeeding or learning more about breastfeeding are welcome. Membership is not required, and children are welcome to attend. The group meets thefirst Thursday of each month.

SATURDAY Russellville Symphony Guild Fundraiser RUSSELLVILLE - The Russellville Symphony Guild will hold its annual fundraiser, Talk of the Town Tables, at 6 p.m. at Lake Point Conference Center. The event will feature a silent auction, a strolling violinist, cocktails, and music performed by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Quartet.

Prior to dinner at 7:30 p.m., guests may browse the silentauction tables. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to bring the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra to Russellville for a concert in March, as well as to promote music in the local schools. Tickets are $60 and may be purchased from RSO Guild board members, or from Judy Murphy at (479) 967-1177.

UPCOMING Spring Musical Auditions MORRILTON - The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Theatre Ensemble will hold auditions for the spring musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Feb. 6 in the UACCM Fine Arts Auditorium. Auditions are open to all students and area residents. Those auditioning will be asked to sing a short, familiar song of their choice and read from provided scenes. For more information, contact Jim Harris at harris@uaccm.edu or (501) 977-2118.

Sign-Language Classes CONWAY - Beginning at 6 p.m. Feb. 7, the Faulkner County Library, 1900 Tyler St., will offer classes in sign language. The free weekly classes are open to the public. For more information, contact the Faulkner County Library at (501) 327-7482 or email nancy@flc.org.

Sweetheart Dinner and Dance MORRILTON - The General Federation of Women’s Clubs’ Adelaide Club of Morrilton will hold a sweetheart dinner and dance Feb. 11 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The porkchop dinner, catered by the Knights, will begin at 7 p.m.

Music by Jim Aldridge and Kern Kennedy, members of the Legendary Pacers, will follow at 8 p.m. A dessert table will be provided by Adelaide Club members. Auction items will be available for silent bids throughout the evening. Ticketsare $30 per person and must be purchased in advance. Tickets may be purchased from any Adelaide member or by calling ticket chairwoman Jeannie Hutchison at (501) 354 3453.

Funds from the event will be used for club projects, including the Angel Tree, scholarships, the Conway County Christian Clinic, Safe Place and assistance to other organizations.

Master Gardeners Spring Seminar MOUNTAIN VIEW - The Stone County Master Gardeners will hold a Spring Seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at First Baptist Church, 224 King Ave.

Guest speakers will include Janet Carson, R.C. Schroeder, Lori Spencer, Ed Levi and Tina Marie Wilcox. The seminar will cover a wide variety of gardening, plant and landscaping subjects. The cost of the seminar is $20, which includes a box lunch. Seating is limited, and registration is required by Feb.
