No bond for man charged in Fort Smith woman's death

— A judge in LeFlore County says a Fort Coffee man should be held without bond until his Aug. 30 preliminary hearing on two counts of murder in the deaths of a woman and her unborn child.

The Southwest Times Record reports that Special Judge Jeff Singer made the ruling Monday in the case of Christopher Kenyon Simpson.

Simpson is charged with two counts of first-degree murder with malice aforethought in the April 8 fatal shooting of Ka'Loni Marie Flynn of Fort Smith, Ark. She was 12 weeks pregnant.

Flynn was found dead in her car. Police say she was shot once between the eyes and once near her left ear.

Simpson's attorney Warren Gotcher argued Simpson wasn't a flight risk or dangerous, but the judge declined to grant bond.
