Arts Council Small Works deadline is Friday

— The Arkansas Arts Council is seeking submissions by Arkansas artists for the 26 annual 2013 Small Works on Paper exhibition. The dead line for entries is Friday.

Entry forms are available online at www.arkansasarts.org or by calling (501) 324 9766.

The accepted artwork will be featured in a yearlong exhibition that travels to 10 Arkansas communities.

Entries will be juried by Anne Austin Pearce, an associate professor of art and director of the Greenlease Gallery at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. Arkansas artists may enter up to three works of art on paper, no larger than 24-by-24 inches, for a fee of $10 per entry or $25 for three entries. Works must have been completed within the past two years. Up to $2,000 will be available for juror-selected purchase awards, which become part of the Small Works on Paper permanent collection.

To be eligible to submit entries, artists must be members of the Arkansas Artist Registry, or they may join for free at the time of entry. Membership to the registry, found on the Arkansas Arts Council’s website at www.arkansasarts.org, is open to all Arkansas artists.

Artists whose work is selected for the 2013 Small Works on Paper exhibition will be notified in September. The exhibition will open at the South Arkansas Arts Center in El Dorado in January 2013.
