A Forrest City woman has claimed a $1 million prize after entering a losing lottery ticket in an online drawing, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery said.

Kevin McCarthy, a spokesman for the agency, said Frankie Williams claimed the prize early Tuesday afternoon, days after her entry was drawn from a pool of several hundred thousand in a Play it Again Second Chance Drawing.

Losing scratch-off tickets can be entered online and once all the other prizes in a particular game have been awarded, a final drawing is held for one more top amount.

In Williams' case, a $20 Diamond Dazzler ticket that didn't win any cash when she first scratched it ultimately earned her the $1 million prize.

"Believe it or not, the odds are fantastic," McCarthy said, noting the chances for winning a top Powerball prize are much slimmer. "It's kind of wonderful to think a non-winning ticket can win $1 million."

Williams, who bought the ticket at Jordan's Kwik Stop 27 in West Helena, doesn't plan to quit her job as a manager for a small group of medical offices.

"She has big plans for saving and taking care of her two children," McCarthy said, noting Williams was "very surprised" to learn she'd won.
