Principal facing charges in attack

— Farmington High School Principal Christopher Webb faces felony charges after police reported finding him nude, covered in blood, attacking a woman inside his home Thursday.

Police also found a dead dog in the home’s bathtub. The dog’s throat had been cut and a knife lay nearby on the floor, according to police.

Webb, 43, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault on a family or household member, third degree domestic battery, interference with emergency communications, second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, resisting arrest and aggravated cruelty to a dog.

According to a preliminary arrest report, officers heard screaming from inside thehome and entered. They found blood on the floor, up the stairs and on the walls. Officers found Webb in the bathroom, according to the report.

Webb was choking Shannon Shrum and had his thumb in her eye, officers reported. Police had to pull him off Shrum and force him into their patrol car, the report said.

Webb joined the Farmington School District several years ago as the high school principal. He has been in education about 20 years. Before working in Farmington, Webb was superintendent of the Prairie Grove School District for two years, leaving in 2007 to spend more time with his family, he said at the time. He also served as junior high principal and assistant superintendent in Prairie Grove before promotion to superintendent in 2005.
