The Bananza banana slicer
The Bananza banana slicer

— With its silly name — The Bananza — and limited skill set, we were reluctant to try this banana slicer. Sure, we’re all for uniformly sliced bananas in our ’nana pudding and floating in our morning cereal, but is it that complicated to slice a banana with a knife? Difficult, no. Time consuming, maybe. Dangerous, sometimes.

If perfect slices are your goal, or if you want to make sure the little chef in the house keeps his perfect 10 (fingers), the Bananza is the way to go.

Simply peel the banana, place the peeled portion in the ring and

squeeze. The stainless-steel blades cut the portion into five thin (about 1/8- inch thick) slices.

After testing the slicer on about 2 pounds of bananas, we definitely see the appeal. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s dishwasher safe, something we can’t say about our bamboo cutting board and favorite knife.
