Arkadelphia Lions Club to sponsor Freedom from Blindness Day

— The Arkadelphia Lions Club will join with other clubs across a four-state area to hold a fundraiser dedicated to the prevention of blindness. The event will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Arkadelphia Walmart Supercenter.

All money raised will go to the Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Service, a charitable organization that provides free eye care to those not able to afford it.

Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Service is a not-for-profit organization. Its mission is to enhance the lives of the indigent sight or hearing impaired by providing light, sound and hope through partnerships between Lions Clubs, medical professionals and facilities throughout the mid-South.

Currently, the organization has a waiting list of nearly 200 patients. To help alleviate this temporary backlog, Lions Club volunteers have banded together for a one-time multi-state fundraiser.
