Earnings report

— Companies reporting quarterly earnings Wednesday included:

PepsiCo Inc., the soft drinks and snacks company, a profit of $1.48 billion, or 94 cents a share, down from $1.89 billion, or $1.17 a share, a year ago. Revenue fell to $16.5 billion. Shares rose $1.51 to close at $70.30.

Radio Shack, the electronics retailer, a loss of $21 million, or 21 cents a share, down from a profit of $24.9 million, or 24 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 1 percent to $953.2 million. Sharesfell $1.05 to close at $2.60.

US Airways, a profit of $306 million, or $1.54 a share, up from $92 million, or 49 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 7.2 percent to $3.75 billion. Shares fell 44 cents to close at $11.15.

WellPoint Inc., the nation’s second-largest health insurer, a profit of $643.6 million, or $1.94 a share, down from $701.6 million, or $1.89 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 2 percent to $15.17 billion. Shares fell $7.41 to close at $54.01.
