Rev. DALE E. BARD of North Little Rock went to be with ourLord on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. He was born to Frank and Laura Bard of Osceola, Neb., on October 30, 1928. He graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., with a B.A. degree and thenfrom Augustana Theological Seminary in Rock Island, Ill. His ordination into the Lutheran Church of America took place in 1953. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Schrag of Marquette, Kan., on December 19, 1949.

During his 30-year ministry he served congregations in Nebraska, Kansas, Michigan, Iowa, and Arkansas. His last ministerial position was at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, North Little Rock, Ark. He was a respected spiritual leader and always took the time to visit his parishioners in their homes. After retirementhe served as Executive Director of the Arkansas Conference of Churches and Synagogues from 1984-1990. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vance Bard. He is survived by his wife Mary, brother, Donal Bard of Central City, Neb., and three daughters, Gwendy (Curt) Derden of Maumelle, Ark., Judy Peterson of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Cindy (Greg) Covalt of Des Moines, Iowa. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Laura Franklin, Christine Hilbert, Adam Peterson, Carrie Hopkins, Reed Peterson, Lou Ann Shannon, Jon Covalt and by nine great-grandchildren, Greg, Raquel, Kendrick, Antonio, Kevianna, Kaylie, Derek, Raelynn, and Blake.

Visitation with the family will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 5900 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark., at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28 with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Stuttgart, Ark. CHRISTINE LOWERY BUCKNER, 61, of Little Rock, departed thislife on Sunday, July 22, 2012. She was a 1969 graduate of Norphlet High School, Norphlet, Ark., and was a Therapeutic Foster Parent for Centers for Youth and Families for 18 years. Sister CHRISTINE GREEN was born on November 1, 1946 to thelate Edward and Laura Bunche in England, Ark. Christine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age uniting with the Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. James T. Miller. Christine received her early education in the North Little Rock public school system where in 1965 she graduated with honors from Scipio A. Jones High School.

Upon graduating from high school, Christine attended Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Ark. In 1969 she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in history. She taught History/Social Science in the Little Rock public school system for 36 years. Christine retired from teaching in the Little Rock School system On May 31, 2005 where she was recognized by the Little Rock Classroom Teachers Association as a “HISTORY TEACHER EXTRAORDINAIRE.” Christine departed this life on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Laura Bunche and her beloved niece, Kimberly Shields. She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Leon Green, Little Rock, Ark.; one son, Christopher Green, Nashville, Tenn.; four sisters, Bertha Gosha, Pittsburg, Calif., Ossie (Louis) Maxwell, Margaret (Jack) Odem, and Diane Bunche of Little Rock, Ark.; three brothers, Jessie (Betty) Bunche, Edward Bunche, Jr. and Michael Bunche, all of North Little Rock, Ark.; one great-aunt, Ellen Dunbar, Little Rock, Ark.; four aunts, Ossie Henry, North Little Rock, Ark., Aggie Black, Bakersfield, Calif., Maude Bunche and Freddie Mae Bunche of Chicago, Ill.; one uncle, Roosevelt (Erma Jean) Shavers; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

On July 25, 2012, CAROLYN JUNE HICKS JONES, age 81, leftthis earth to go to a new world to see her parents, grandparents, brother and to hold her son who died at birth.

Carolyn began her life in Harrison, Ark., on December 12,1930, the daughter of John and Blanche Hicks and sister of James Hicks, who all went before her to wait for her. Carolyn was mother to Jeffery Bruce Jones (Linda) of Conway, grandmother to Adrian and Noah Jones of North Little Rock, and sister to Robert Hicks of Camden, Ark.

Carolyn was a 1948 graduate of Little Rock High School and attended Little Rock Junior College. Carolyn worked as a bookkeeper in Tulsa, Okla., Little Rock and North Little Rock, Ark., and retired from Thibault Milling Company. She attended Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church.

Previous years Carolyn enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and painting. The last few years of Carolyn’s life she battled multiple sclerosis until her passing in Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Arkansas Hospice Foundation. The family is thankful for the caregivers at Red Oak Nursing Home and Arkansas Hospice.

GERTRUDE BOWEN SHARP, age 86, of Little Rock passed into the Lord’s loving arms on July 25, 2012 to join her loved ones who’ve gone before her. She was born on Christmas Eve 1925 to Louie and Susie Markley of Mabelvale. She was a lifelong Lutheran.

Gertrude had a fun-loving spirit and loved to laugh. She was an excellent cook and was proud of her cooking skills, especially her pies and Christmas dressing. She worked in several restaurants including her own and later worked at a nursing home where she earned her dietitian certification. She loved the color red, baseball and dogs, but most of all, her family.

She was the widow of Bill Bowen. She and Bill made their home in Mabelvale and raised their family there. Gertrude is survived by her children, Shirley Pharis, Jan Baldridge and Jim Bowen and his wife, Kay; two granddaughters, Ali Baldridge and Kristi Massey and her husband, Brandon, and their three sons. She is also survived by a sister, Elsie Appling.

SONDRA RAY MURPHY OUTLAW WALLIS, age 56, of Jacksonville, Ark., passed away on July 18, 2012. She was born on November 11, 1955 in Dermott, Ark., to her parents, John Sonny Murphy and Eva Mildred Ray Outlaw. Mrs. Wallis was a homemaker, an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and cooking. She loved her grandchildren.

Mrs. Wallis was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Neil Wallis of Jacksonville, Ark.; two daughters, Mandy Lee (Philip), Heather DeLess, both of Crossett, Ark.; one brother, Tim Murphy of Monticello, Ark.; one sister, Tammy Watt of Crossett, Ark.; two grandchildren, Peyton Kyle and Brady Freeman and numerous nephews and nieces.

ARKADELPHIA - Ross E. Buck, age 82, of Arkadelphia died Tuesday. He was a retired mechanic, served in the United States Air Force, and was a member of Second Baptist Church of Arkadelphia. He was preceded in death by his wife Lexie Buck.

Survivors include one son, Ricky Buck and his wife Tammy of Conway, his mother Violet “Ted” Buck of Arkadelphia, two brothers, Carroll Buck of Arkadelphia, and Dean Buck of Hurst, Texas, three grandsons, Jonathan Buck and his wife Holly, Michael Buck and Mark Buck.

AUSTIN - Beverly E. O’Clair, 73, of Austin, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, July 24th, 2012. She was born January 17th, 1939, in Berlin, New Hampshire, to Ralph and Katherine Dudley Merrill.

Ms. Beverly cherished her time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She could often be found cookingfor all of them, as well as reading and knitting. She was also amember of the Silver Sneakers and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Fred J. O’Clair; hergranddaughter, Amber Nicole Abbott; and two brothers, Kent and Curtis Merrill. Cherishing her memory are her children, Merrill Harding (Beverly) of Jacksonville, Kim Sharp (Jeff) of Austin, Stace’ O’Clair (Tammy) of Seattle, Washington, and Paula Herring (Claude) of Quitman; brother, Craig Merrill; sisters, Sandra Thurlow, and Sherry Welch; grandchildren, Damien Harding, Benjamin Harding (Becky), Tiffany Campos (Rodrigo), Cassie Abbott, Joshua Herring (Sarah), Brooke Powell (Tyler), and RyLeigh-Dawn Sharp; great-grandchildren, Dakota Harding, Logan Harding, and Cade Herring; her faithful dog Brandi; and a host of friends and other relatives.

BATESVILLE - Dr. William I. Jenkerson, 65, went home to bewith Jesus, on Sunday, July 22, 2012. He was with his family at the Covenant Hospice Care Center in Panama City, Florida, when his long battle with cancer ended. He is rejoicing inHeaven with his mother and father, Dr. E.A. “Pete” and Emma Jean Jenkerson. After graduation from Batesville High School, Bill went on to the University of Arkansas and Lyon College for preoptometry. He graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in 1974 and then returned to Batesville to practice for 37 years. Bill loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and golfing. He loved to cheer on his Pioneers, Razorbacks, and West Magnet Dance Team. Dr. Jenkerson was of the Baptist faith and active in the John 3:16 Ministries.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kay, and his daughter Danielle Jenkerson (James Milligan), all of Batesville; his sisters, Sue Anne Jenkerson (Marvin Bailey) of Anchorage, Alaska, and CarolJean Jenkerson of Batesville; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

CABOT - Marlin Ray Wright, age 67, of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012. He was born April 7, 1945, in Bauxite, Arkansas. Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired Arkansas State Trooper. He was a member of the Arkansas Retired State Police Association and always quietly donated to several charities.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Bertha Wright; two brothers, Joe Wayne and Ralph Wright, and three sisters, Shirley Bradley, Billie June Horvath and Juanita Jacobs. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Wright; two daughters, Paula Wright and Sheryl Jackson and husband Steven; two brothers, Kay and Alfred Wright, and a sister-in-law, Jane Stewart.

CARLISLE - Odean Parker, 88, of Carlisle passed away on Tuesday, July 24. She was a life-long member of the Christadelphian Church. Odean was born on May 20, 1924, to Alvis and Rachael Hackney.

Odean was preceded in death by herhusband, Billy Parker. She is survived by her children, Jerry (Jo Anna) Parker of Mount Ida, William (Pat) Parker of Carlisle and Sandra Shock of Bryant. Odean was blessed with five grandchildren, Nanette Belford, Candy Straus, Todd Parker, Shane Parker, and Cassi Kelley, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

McGEHEE - Mary Juanita Allison 83, of McGehee, Ark., passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs, Ark. Mrs. Allison was born to the late Kelcer and Sarah Grubbs Roberts on August 13, 1928, in Lacey, Ark. She was a member of the Church of Christ in McGehee and a longtime secretary at McGehee public schools.

She is preceded in death not only by her parents but also by her daughter Libby Allison,a sister Lois Davis, and three brothers: Derwood Roberts, Glen Roberts, and WK Roberts. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Caldwell was born on February 12, 1935 and passed away on July 23, 2012. She worked as an Office Manager for many years at Taco Tio and prior to that she was the dearly loved bookkeeper for Aline Lonsberry and then Dr. Thomas Chatham. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe for over 30 years before moving to Farmerville in 2006 where she became a member of First Baptist Church in Farmerville.

Mrs. Dee dedicated her most recent years to caring for the love of her life, Bill. A precious loving mother and proud grandmother, her mischievous laugh and twinkling eyes lit up the life of her family and friends and will be deeply missed. Her vibrant zest for life radiated the love of Jesus to everyone who met her.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Bill Caldwell of Downsville, La.; daughter, Teri McDuffie and husband Sam of Benton, Ark.; two granddaughters: Katie McDuffie and Maggie McDuffie; sister, Veda Davis of Hot Springs, N.C.; brother, Verlin Webb of Powell, Ohio; with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

FRISCO, Texas - Wanema Corine Beck, born May 17, 1923 in Sidon, Ark., died on July 21,2012 in Frisco, Texas, after several long-suffering illnesses. For the last 10 years she lived in Texas near her daughters and grandchildren.
