LR airport: Flyers should allot more time for travel

— Relocations of baggage screening machines and ticket counters at the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock could cause travelers to spend some additional time checking in before flying out.

Airport spokesman Shane Carter said remodeling at the airport has been going on for the last few months, but these new construction projects will be inside the airport, where travelers will be more likely to see what's going on.

Carter said the US Airways, Frontier and United Airlines ticket counters will be relocated during this leg of the construction process.

"The space [the ticket counters] are in now are going to be reconstructed, so they will be moving to alternate counters within the ticket lobby," Carter said. Travelers that are used with the setup the Little Rock airport has had since 2001 might be a little disoriented; airport officials are urging travelers to arrive to the airport at least two hours before their flights that fall between July 31 through August 6.

Carter said this extra time will allow for checking in and finding everything necessary for making passengers' trips as "stress free" as possible.

Baggage screening machines are also moving to a new location during this period. Carter said there will be a new baggage handling building, so these machines will be relocating outside of the ticket lobby, freeing up more space.
