— An Emerson man was arrested Friday in the May slaying of Glenda Stroman, 72, of Magnolia.

In a brief news conference held in the courtroom at the Columbia County jail, officials announced the arrest of Robert Harrison, 32, of Emerson.

Magnolia police Lt. Todd Dew said Harrison worked for a local business and was arrested at his place of employment.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney David Butler praised the Magnolia Police Department for its work. Butler also expressed appreciation to the state Crime Laboratory for its work in helping solve the case.

Magnolia Police Chief Glenn Maxwell said, “We’ve been working hard and long on the investigation. We want the family, as well as the citizens of Magnolia, to know the subject has been arrested for the murder of Glenda Stroman.”

Maxwell said physical evidence at the scene and DNA results from the Crime Laboratory investigation led to Harrison’s arrest. He declined to elaborate on a motive.

Dew said Stroman was acquainted with the suspect through business but declined to release further details.

In May, Maxwell said the case involved a break-in and was being looked at as a burglary. He could not say at that time if anything was taken from the home.

He said Stroman was discovered in her North Dudney Road home by her son-in-law.

The slaying was Magnolia’s first in 2012.
