2 killed in crashes on Arkansas roads

— Two people died Friday in separate single-vehicle accidents, according to preliminary Arkansas State Police fatality accident reports.

Jerry Johnson, 65, of Cabot was driving north on John Hardin Drive in Lonoke County about 11:47 a.m. when he ran off the road and into a wooded area, where his pickup collided with a tree and caught on fire, the report states. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bobby Lewis, 32, of Pine Bluff was driving south on U.S. 65 about 11:30 p.m. when he drove across the highway and into a ditch on the west side of the road and collided with a fence, the report states. He was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he died.
