MORGAN CITY, La. — The Justice Department has approved Morgan City’s plan to reconfigure its City Council districts.
The Daily Review reports the decision came after months of meetings.
The city was notified in a letter from the Justice Department.
Changes in the racial makeup of Morgan City shown in the 2010 U.S. Census forced expansion of the only council district in which minorities were predominant.
