Am I good enough?

— Maybe you’re thinking, “Am I fit enough to even start training for a marathon?” Maybe, “What if I’m no good?” Consider this: The average time for all runners of the last Little Rock Marathon was 5:01:27, or a pace of about 5.2 miles per hour. The average time for walkers of the Little Rock Marathon was 6:42:09.

Hobbit Singleton co-coaches the training program with husband Tom. She’s a veteran of 12 marathons but describes herself as a “back-back-back-of-the pack” runner. Her average finish time is between seven and eight hours.

“You don’t have to be able to run the whole thing to come train, and you don’t need to be a certain speed,” she says. “If you’re looking for everyone’s-going-to-dress-the-same and everyone’s-shoulder-to shoulder, this is not what we do.”

And if, on the other hand, you’re a sub-four hour finisher, there’s a spot for you, too!
