LR police investigating fatal shooting

A 50-year-old Little Rock man was fatally shot during an altercation early Monday outside his residence.

The Little Rock Police Department said in a report that Charles T. Gaskins was dead from multiple apparent gunshot wounds when officers arrived shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday to investigate a robbery report at his mobile home, No. 203 at 9500 S. Heights Road.

Gaskins' fiancee, Nikelle Girndt, told authorities two men, including one who was armed with a handgun, approached the home as she and Gaskins sat on the front porch, according to the report.

Girndt told police she ran inside the residence and struggled to close the door as one of the two assailants tried to enter. She said she then heard two gunshots coming from outside, the report said.

Gaskins was found on his back outside the residence with gun shot wounds to his right hand, chest and lower cheek.

No arrests have been made.
