RICHARD LEE MURPHY SR., our beloved husband and father, has been called to our heavenly Father’s side in reward of a rich life of serving family and friends. He was born April 5, 1936, in Lanette, Ala., Richard served in both the Air Force and the Army and retired from Pirelli Tire. Richard is survived by his adoring wife of 50 years, Frances nee Kaucher; six children, Phillip, Christie, Beverly, Glen, Richard (Rick) Jr. and Rachel; eight grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. HATTIE LUCILLE TURCHI, infant, from North Little Rock, passed away July 29, 2012. She is survived by her mother and father, Annie and Tyler Turchi; two brothers, Isaiah and Angelo; grandparents Susan and Jeff Mackey and Toni and Rodney Turchi; great-grandparents Kathryn and Johnny Turchi and Jeanette Mackey. She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents Janice and M.L. Wilson, Cleo Mackey, Julia Lucille and Milton Schroetke. Hattie taught us so much in the short time we spent with her. We have peace that she is with Jesus now. A service will be held Monday, July 30th at 10:30 a.m. at the Mosaic Church, 6420 Colonel Glenn Rd, Suite 1, Little Rock, Ark. 72204. BENTON - Bettie Lou (Atkins) Pearce passed away July26, 2012, at Saline Hospice. She was born to James Bruce and Mattie Lou Atkins in Star City, Ark., July 30, 1927. Bettie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of62 years, Ray “Sleepy” Pearce; infant son, Ronald Lee Pearce;son, Thomas Earl “Tommy” Pearce; and her little dog Dee. Bettie was a wonderful wife and mother who loved her home and taking care of her family. She was always there to help anyone in need. Ray and Bettie were avid Razorback fans. They loved to dance to Big Band music, winning several contests. Bettie retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1986 with 37 years of service. She was a member of Pioneers of America, MAH LAH NA Temple Court 136 and the DAV Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son Ray “Skip” Pearce III, daughter-in-law, Debbie; sister, Hazel Miller, and brother, Jim Atkins, all of Hot Springs; sister-in-law, Martha Sue Pearce Bost of Pine Bluff; seven nephews and one niece; special friends, Roger Benge and J. Michael Jackson of Little Rock. Bettie was blessed with a large group of wonderful friends whom she loved dearly and who loved her. They are too numerous to name in this writing, you know who you are and Bettie’s family wishes to thank you for being such a big part of her life.

A Memorial Service will be held at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills, 10200 Hwy. 5 N., Alexander, Ark., on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. Reverend Mike Snell will officiate. Burial will be private. CABOT - Vernon Eugene Morgan, 79, of Cabot, Ark., born Jan. 13, 1933, to Virgil and Mary McClung Morgan, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012. Gene proudly served his country and was retired from the United States Air Force. Gene was a member of the American Legion, Post 71. He loved the outdoors, played golf when he could, was an excellent craftsman with wood, and loved to help others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Mary Morgan, and sister, Donna Calloway.

Gene is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; four children, James Martin (Amber), Lorrie Parker (Steve), Christy Miller, and John Morgan. He is also survived by several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Arkansas Funeral Care, 2620 W. Main Street, Jacksonville, Ark. CENTER RIDGE - Ardith Taylor “Puppy” Polk, age 94, of Center Ridge passed away Friday, July 27, 2012. He was born Nov. 12, 1917, in Center Ridge, Ark., to Jasper Allen and Linner Ethel Mahan Polk. Ardith joined the Army when he was 20 years old with his first assignment being Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Mo.; he then went ontoFt. McDowell, San Francisco, Calif. From there he was shippedto bases in Ft. Derussy and Ft. Ruger, both located in the territory of Hawaii. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor during this tour of duty. He served time at Guadal-Canal in theSolomon Islands before his next tour at Ft. Richardson, Alaska. The Army then sent him back to Schofield Barracks in the territory of Hawaii; during this tour he made all grades of enlisted service as well as Chief Warrant Officer. He was then stationed at Ft. Jackson, S.C., and shipped to Korea. His other tours included Ft. Lee, Va., Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., Germany, Ft. Chaffee, Ark., and Ft. Sill, Okla. Ardith retired as Chief Warrant Officer with an honorable discharge in 1964 with more than 23 years of service to his country.

Ardith was a lifetime member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and the DAV. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and NAUS. He was a supporter of the Center Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Center Ridge Cemetery Perpetual Trust Fund for 22 years, served as a board member for two; and secretary for 20 years. He was a historian, researching the history of Center Ridge as well as the surrounding communities; having information published in the book “Conway County: Our Land Our Home Our People.” Survivors include his son, James Allen Polk and wife Rhonda of Springdale; daughter-in-law, Sula Polk of Windy Point; grandchildren, Danita Eustice, Paula Trafford, Alvin Polk, Taylor Polk, Jamianne Johnson, Brittany Nelson; 13 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Mr.Polk is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and church family. He was preceded in death by a son, Artel Lee Polk, Artel’s mother, Bertie Bryant Flowers; three grandchildren, daughter-in-law Andrea Rossi Dobbins; brothers Laudis, Bill, Glyn, and Doris Polk; sistersin-law Dewel, Mary, Montine, and Gertrude Polk, and his beloved wife of 60 years, Rosebelle Muliwai Tura DeMello.

The family would like to invite everyone to join them in a celebration of Ardith’s life, to remember his smile, laughter and joy at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Center Ridge with Father Lenard Tuozzolo, CSSp. officiating with burial at Center Ridge Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 30, at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton. GUY - Daisy Juanita Fielder, 96, of Guy went to be with theLord, on Saturday, July 28, 2012. She was born in Guy, Ark., on Wed., April 5, 1916, to the late Alfred and Hattie (Beene) Stewart.

Mrs. Daisy touched manylives with her servant heart and love for God. She always cookedand cared for people at times of need, and if you stopped by to visit, you never left her home without a meal and wonderful dessert.

She devoted many, many years to her Sunday School Class of older ladies. She had a very loving relationship with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for her love and kindness that she showed to everyone, and was always happy to see her nieces, nephews and cousins when they stopped by to see her.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Bivens and husband, Hassel, of Guy; two grandchildren, Austin Ashley Bivens and wife, Lisa, of Springdale, Heather Dufrene and husband, Chris, of Clinton; six great-grandchildren, Fielder, Daly, Livie, Brodie Dufrene, Spencer and StewartBivens; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Daisy is preceded in death by her husband, Thay Fielder; two sisters, Della Morgan and Thelma Hartwick of Guy; three brothers, Doyle Stewart of Little Rock, Herman Stewart of Winter Park, Fla., and Lennard Stewart of Galliton, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Copperas Springs Cemetery with Bro. Ed Stephenson officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.
