Woman held after man hit by truck dies

— A Dierks man was run over by a pickup in Lockesburg on Sunday afternoon after arguing with a woman in the truck, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Robert Wilbanks, 55, of 210 Arkansas Blvd. was riding with Bobbie Wilbanks, 47, who lives with him, on Arkansas 24 about 12:20 p.m. when the two began arguing, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatality report.

Police say Robert Wilbanks got out of the pickup, and Bobbie Wilbanks ran him over.

He was taken to the De Queen Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:20 p.m., the report said.

Bobbie Wilbanks told police that Robert Wilbanks stopped the vehicle and ordered her out of the truck, after which, she “slid under the steering wheel in an attempt to leave.” That’s when she hit him, she told police.

Bobbie Wilbanks was charged with second-degree murder and was being held Monday afternoon at the Sevier County jail in De Queen in lieu of $350,000 bond.
