This picture is a rendering of the Bass Pro Shop planned for Little Rock.

Bass Pro Shop will open a store in Little Rock, creating 250 jobs, the company said Friday.

The outdoor store will be part of a new outlet mall, the Gateway Town Center development, located near Interstate 30 and Interstate 430, the company announced on its website.

The store is set to be open by Christmas next year, and construction will begin in late summer for the store, which will be 120,000 square feet, according to developer Tommy Hodges.

Great news! I'm so tired of driving to Memphis, Springfield or Dallas to find high quality gear. I would rather spend the my limited recreational gear dollars here in Arkansas. If you snooze, you lose NLR...

Poor NLR misses out on those tax dollars. Maybe they can make it up with their RV park. LOL. Gotta love it. Great to see SOME city here has a some sort of intelligence.

You know people want business but they refuse to allow it to develop/grow. This is why we have 10,000 churches and 10,000 banks. God forbid that we move forward and allow businesses to grow/develop and create better paying jobs for us. I say Welcome to Central Arkansas Bass Pro Shop!

BPS used to carry all the latest and greatest fishing gear and all the brands so selection was their big draw. Now, along with internet sales, everyone else has caught up with them and many even have better prices. I have been to the one in Memphis 3 or 4 times over the years and they don't have a fourth of what is listed in the catalog. They were the big dog at one time and should have built here years ago and I am sure they will probably be successful, but they will not be the draw that they once were.

Now if the Chamber of Commerce's $25 Million sales tax payoff in the form of a Research Park will build here and not displace residential neighborhoods........
