SATURDAY Model Aircraft Airshow BENTON - The Central Arkansas Model Aviators Association will hold the 2012 Radio Controlled Model Aircraft Airshow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the old Saline County Airport, off Exit 116 on Interstate 30 in Benton. There will be flight demonstrations of prop and jet turbine powered model aircraft and helicopters. There is a $10 landing fee for pilots. ONGOING Meals for Youths BENTON/ARKADELPHIA - The Central Arkansas Development Council will provide free meals to all eligible children through Aug. 2 at Arkansas Counseling and Associates in Arkadelphia and through Aug. 1 at the organization’s Benton location. The offices will be closed July 2-6. To receive free meals, children must meet income guidelines for free or reducedprice meals in the National School Lunch Program. Children who are part of households that receive food stamps or benefits under the FoodDistribution Program on Indian Reservations or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families are automatically eligible. Art of Fiber Exhibit ARKADELPHIA - The Arkadelphia Arts Center, 625 Main St., will have an exhibit titled The Art of Fiber through July 7. The exhibit includes art made from natural fibers, such as hand-knitted, handspun shawls, scarfs, vintage weavings, hand-spun yarns, Temari balls, knitted doll clothes and jewelry. Products formed from llama, cashmere, Rambouillet wool, Gotland sheep, silk, cotton, alpaca and bamboo fibers are on display, even a necklace made from cat fur. Adult Fishing Tournament HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - A fishing tournament for adultsages 17 and older will be held on Lake Balboa from 6:30-11:30 a.m. July 6. Each twoperson team must include one person who is at least 23 years old. Weigh-in will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Children’s Fishing Tournament HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - A fishing tournament will be held for children 16 years old and younger on July 6. Children may fish on any lake in Hot Springs Village, but they must bring their fish to the Lake Balboa boat ramp between 10 :30 a.m. and noon for weigh-in. Trophies will be awarded for the biggest bass, bream and catfish. Every child who brings a fish to be weighed will receive a certificate. RC Airplane Fun Fly, Boat Parade HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - A Radio Control Airplane Fun Fly will be held July 7 at the Magellan Driving Range. The free event, sponsored by Hot Springs Radio Control Flying, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Quickbooks Seminar HOT SPRINGS - Henderson State University’s Small Business Technology and Development Center will hold a Quickbooks seminar from 9 a.m. to noon July 12, 19 and 26 at the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce. The introduction, on July 12, is a hands-on class that will introduce the program to small-business owners with little or no experience using it. The second session, on July 19, will offer instruction in recording transactions and maintaining company account information. Golf Classic HOT SPRINGS - The Arkansas S cho ol for M athematics, Sciences and the Arts will hold its sixth annual ASMSA/Cisco Golf Tournament on July 13 at the Hot Springs Country Club. Registration for the four-man scramble will begin at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Early registration, available until June 29, is $400 per team or $100 for individual players. After June 29, registration will be $500 per team or $125 for individuals. The registration includes a day of golf, lunch and a gift bag. Proceeds from the tournament will go toward completing construction of the library in the new ASMSA Student Center.
