Jonesboro plant to shut down, eliminating 600 jobs

— A Wisconsin-based printing company says it will shut down a production facility in Jonesboro, eliminating about 600 jobs there.

Quad/Graphics said Wednesday night that it would work to find other employment for the workers, including at different locations within the company. But it said closing the 600,000 square-foot facility was necessary amid an effort "to consolidate work onto its most efficient and competitive manufacturing platforms."

"We value the talents and contributions of employees impacted by today's announcement, and we will help them with their career transitions," company chairman, president and CEO Joel Quadracci said in a statement. "We need skilled, experienced employees for a variety of positions throughout our company, and we will share those opportunities with Jonesboro employees willing to relocate."

The plant will be shut down by the fourth quarter of this year, the company said.

Quad/Graphics provides printing services for magazines, catalogs, circulars, direct mail, in-store signage and more. It is based in Sussex, Wis. and employs about 22,500 people.
