California old-time string band The Old Tire Swingers - Paul Chesterton, banjo; Nick Kennedy, guitar; Frick Dau, upright bass; and Nathanael Felon, mandolin - will perform bluegrass, country, Americana and Appalachia-influenced music as part of the Valley of the Vapors Independent Music Festival at 8 p.m. Saturday at Low Key Arts Building, 118 Arbor St., Hot Springs. Rhodes on the road

The Rhodes Singers from Memphis’ Rhodes College will give a concert at 7 p.m. today at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock. The group’s tour program includes portions of Gabriel Faure’s Requiem and songs and pieces by Moses Hogan,Stephen Paulus, Rosephanye Powell, Egil Hovland, Gygorgy Orban, Ross Bernhardt, Kevin Memley, Franz Biebl and Gregorio Allegri. Bach birthday bash

In celebration of Johann Sebastian Bach’s 327th birthday, Lyon College faculty and students will perform Bach instrumental and vocal works at 4 p.m. Sunday at Brown Chapel, Lyon College, 2300 Highland Road, Batesville. The program will include organ preludes and toccatas and a semi-staged performance of the Coffee Cantata, with baritone Joel Plaag as Schlendrian, mezzo-soprano Diana Turnbo as Schlendrian’s scheming daughter, Lieschen, and Joshua Palmer as the narrator.
