Ashbrook to talk about U.K. estate

— The 11th Viscount Ashbrook will speak Wednesday at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service about Arley Hall and its gardens.

Ashbrook, formerly known as Michael Fowler, inherited the estate in Cheshire, United Kingdom, from his mother in 1995.

His family has owned Arley Hall for more than 500 years.

His lecture will focus on the Arley Hall gardens and include excerpts on family history and other aspects of the estate and its management.

The gardens are an amalgam of the tastes and work of members of the family going back roughly 250 years.

Those attending the noon to 1 p.m. lecture in Sturgis Hall may take their own lunches. Drinks will be provided.

Seats can be reserved by e-mailing publicprograms@ clintonschool.uasys.edu or by calling (501) 683-5239.
