Scholar of poverty, race to speak in LR

— John Powell, a race, poverty and regional-equity scholar, will speak next Friday at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.

Powell will lecture as part of an event titled “Racial Healing and Equity in the American South,” hosted by the Clinton School’s Center on Community Philanthropy.

The former director of the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at Ohio State University, Powell will discuss unconscious bias and community philanthropy as a tool to dismantle unjust structures.

Those attending the noon to 1 p.m. lecture in Sturgis Hall may bring lunches. Drinks will be provided.
