Little Red River Beef Cattle Conference is Wednesday

— On Wednesday, cattlemen and industry experts will gather to discuss issues affecting the cattle industry at the Little Red River Beef Cattle Conference, held at the Cleburne County Livestock Auction House in Heber Springs.

On tap for discussion are cost-effective weed-control methods and an update on the market.

◊9:30 a.m., Introductions and welcome, Michelle Mobley, Cleburne County interim staff chair, University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture

◊9:45 a.m., Cost-effective weed control, Dr. John Boyd, visiting assistant professor, University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture

◊10:15 a.m., Calf-grading demonstration, Rickey Wiedower, livestock news reporter,University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture

◊10:50 a.m., Break

◊11:10 a.m., Beef cattle market update, James Robb, director and senior agricultural economist, Livestock Marketing Information Center

◊Noon, Lunch

◊1 p.m., Adjourn
