— Wedding vows were exchanged by Michelle Faye Carney and Dennis Gene Dewitt at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 17, in First Baptist Church. The father of the groom officiated.

Cheryl and Craig Carney, 4103 Lacy Lane, are the parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Evelyn and the late Walter Carney and Dona and the late Edward Eller, all of Jacksonville.

The groom is the son of Betty and Kenneth Dewitt of Patterson. His grandparents are Bonnie and the late Dennis Dewitt of Patterson and the late Hana and Gene Snook of Bradford.

The sanctuary was lined with whitewashed trees decorated with Spanish moss and hanging tea-light candles. Music was by pianist Veda Smith and vocalists Dorcas Van Gilst, Elizabeth Henderson and Abigail Van Gilst.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an ivory, strapless ball gown of shantung taffeta with a sweetheart bodice, Empire waist and sweep train. She carried a bouquet of creamy white hydrangeas, white spray mums and baby’s breath.

Matron of honor was Lauren Davis of Rogers. Bridesmaids were Rachel McDonald of North Little Rock, Elizabeth Ray of Fayetteville, Whitney Fleming of San Antonio, Katie Hurst of Jonesboro and Kaylee Sisoukrath and Nicole Daye, both of Little Rock. They wore gray dresses in the style of their choice and carried bouquets of baby’s breath filled with yellow and pink roses.

Flower girls were Madison Jones of Austin, cousin of the bride, and Kylie Willhite of Maumelle. Ring bearer was Jackson Leonard of Patterson, nephew of the groom.

Serving as best man was Barry Dewitt of Cordova, Tenn., brother of the groom.

Groomsmen were Stephen Dewitt of McCrory, cousin of the groom; Ryan Carney of Little Rock, brother of bride; Matt Jones of Maumelle; Brandon Gates of Tuckerman; Jake Detterming of Hot Springs Village; and Leon Cunningham of Olive Branch, Miss.

Guests were seated by Zach Martin of Sheridan and Craig Schlachter, Jordan Davis and Griffin Kuhn, all of Little Rock.

Guest tables at a reception in the Junior League Building were covered in ivory linen with burlap overlays and centered with cut tree slabs, vintage books and Mason jars filled with candles or flowers.

The bride is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, with a bachelor’s degree in Christian studies with an emphasis in Christian ministries. She was a member of the EEE Social Club, Student Senate and Panhellenic Council president. She is director of women’s ministries at the Dorcas House in Little Rock.

The groom received a bachelor’s degree in education from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro. He is a Spanish I and II teacher at Mills University Studies High School and an assistant varsity girls’ basketball coach.

The couple will reside in Little Rock after a honeymoon in Costa Rica.
