Photographer to conduct workshops in Bee Branch

— A series of workshops on the basics of photography, “The Eye … The Difference,” will begin Saturday. Created by Bill Ward of Bee Branch, the classes are available for different experience levels and will all be conducted on Saturdays at his cabin in Bee Branch.

“The essence of art has not changed, though the methods of capturing it have,” Ward said, noting that the workshops are designed to teach participants the art of seeing and execution before the shutter is fired.

Ward has been photographing in Arkansas and around the world since the early 1960s and has amassed an archive of almost half a million images. He is the author of two books, Conway As It Was … As It Is, published in 2008, and Beyond the River: Stories of Life Near the Arkansas, which was released in December.

The first workshop will be conducted this Saturday, and subsequent classes are planned for May. Each class is limited to four to eight participants.
