LITTLE ROCK — LOVIT WATCHABLE WILDLIFE TRAIL Location:
Go 25 miles west of Hot Springs on U.S. 270 to Shangri-La Drive and turn right. Take the first left and go two blocks to parking area and kiosk.
Length:
It’s a 1.25-mile easy loop of paved paths and elevated wooden walkways.
Main attractions:
The Lake Ouachita Vista Trail features nine segments of varying difficulty. This short first segment is the best for families with small children.
The handicap-accessible trail follows Gap Creek and features a quarter-mile long wooden walkway over the wetlands at the end of Denby Bay. Take your fishing pole.
Hazards:
Paved portions could be under water if the lake is up.
Amenities:
Parking, water, restroom.
Dog, bike, tyke friendly?
Keep the dogs on a leash and the bikes at home. The kiddies will love this place.
