Worker electrocuted, another injured in Wabbaseka accident

One person was electrocuted and another one injured while working on a power line in Wabbaseka on Wednesday.

According to Wabbaseka Police Chief DeShawn Bennett, three men and a supervisor were working on the line for an independent power organization, Highlines Inc., out of Louisiana and were shocked around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning a mile down Brunetti Road.

Bennett, who was the first one on the scene, helped administer first aid to one man, who he said had a pulse at first, but later died. He was 28. Bennett said he was believed to have been guiding wires on the ground without gloves on when he was shocked.

The second man was laying on his side in a ditch when Bennett arrived, but later was up walking around. He was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Two other men working on the scene, the supervisor and another worker, were not hurt.
