Fayetteville officer shot in standoff cleared in shootout

Fayetteville police officials say an officer who was shot during a standoff has been cleared to return to duty once he recovers from his wound.

According to the Northwest Arkansas Times, five other officers who exchanged gunfire with a man during the standoff on Sunday also were cleared in the incident.

Authorities say six officers exchanged gunfire with Sergio Andrade, who is accused at firing at police after an attempted traffic stop. Andrade eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

Officer Blake Williamson was struck in the leg above his ankle during the gunfight.

Andrade remained at the Washington County jail on attempted capital murder and other complaints. Records didn’t indicate if he had retained an attorney.
