William Denny Dunlap, accompanied by his attorney, Bill James, pleaded guilty to kidnapping, first-degree domestic battering, terroristic threatening and aggravated assault for the April attack on the 27-yearold woman who has an 8-yearold son with him.

In exchange for the guilty plea, deputy prosecutor Jeanna Sherrill dropped a rape charge and recommended the sentence to Pulaski County Circuit Judge Wendell Griffen. Dunlap will have to serve 35 years before he is eligible for parole.

Pulaski County deputies said Dunlap held the woman against her will for four days and tattooed a swastika on her right hand with his name around her wrist. The police were called when the severely burned woman showed up at a neighbor’s home seeking help. She told investigators that Dunlap had burned her chest with cigarettes and scalding water, disfiguring her chest, with water burns on one foot requiring surgery because the flesh had melted together. The woman also described being tied to a chair with Dunlap choking her and beating her until she was unconscious. She said Dunlap also threatened to kill their son and her family if she resisted. She escaped when Dunlap left the residence. He was arrested that same day.
